Japan tops poll of most desirable destinations

by Andy_G

Japan has become the most desirable place to visit in the world, according to the World Economic Forum.

In a survey of 117 countries Japan came out on top for the first time as the country people most wanted to visit.

The reasons given for wanting to head to Japan were the country’s convenient transport system, scenery,  culture and the safety enjoyed by visitors.

However, despite being the wanna-go country, Japan has had stricter entry measures in place than most countries and so international tourists to the country have been almost non-existent since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The government, under pressure from business leaders and other affected groups, is now looking to lift restrictions and once again allow the flow of foreigners to Japan.

Changes could happen as early as June this year and should help revive a flagging tourist industry.

The Forum itself stated the impact of tourism to the world economy and how important it was for people to feel safe to once again travel following more than two years of the coronavirus pandemic.
